I cannot begin to tell you how excited I am for Fairfax 2015! I have always wanted to visit Washington, D.C. and for the games to be scheduled during the 4th of July is a bonus! This is going to be awesome!

In 1985, the World Police & Fire Games Federation, a non-profit organization, run by the Californian Police Athletics Federation, established the World Police & Fire Games. Today, the World Police & Fire Games are a spectacular international sporting event, offering police officers, firefighters, customs and correction officers from around the world an opportunity to showcase their athletic excellence in over 65 sporting events.
THE WPFG CONTINUES TO GROW IN BOTH SIZE AND SCOPE
Held biennially, the World Police & Fire Games will be held in Fairfax County, Virginia, USA in 2015, Montreal, Canada in 2017 and Chengdu, China in 2019. The size and scope of the games continues to grow, with both the attendance and number of participating countries steadily increasing. The international community eagerly bids for the rights and opportunity to hold this exciting event. Previous hosts have included:
- 1995 - Melbourne, Australia
- 1999 - Stockholm, Sweden
- 2003 - Barcelona, Spain
- 2013 - Belfast, Northern Ireland
On the average, one and one-half persons accompany each competitor. This means that a total of 15,000-30,000 visitors come to the Host City and its environs during the 10 day event, creating an exciting and rewarding community-wide sporting and cultural event. In addition, the economic impact of the “Games” is substantial, not only during the Games but before and after as well, as many competitors and their guests remain in the area or arrive early for their vacation/holidays.
I just learned that the World Police & Fire Games are coming to Fairfax County. This is such a wonderful, family event that exposes our children to athletics through their firefighter and police heroes. And the fact that everything is free makes this a must see event in 2015! Thank you Fairfax! '.
